We’ve always loved the pastries and other sweet treats at the Genuine Hospitality Group’s family of restaurants. So naturally when we heard that Pastry Chef Hedy Goldsmith was moving on from Miami, our stomachs were sad. But now with the news that Johnson & Wales alum Amy Kalinowski has taken over the Pastry Chef post at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, our stomachs are happy again.
Amy Kalinowski is no stranger to the Genuine pastry department, having spent three years developing sweets and working alongside Hedy Goldsmith. During her time with the restaurant group, Kalinowski served as a Pastry Assistant and worked on decadent confections for the ever-popular Schwartz brunch service, which launched in 2009.
With plates changing weekly, the Sunday marathon shifts helped stretch her imagination in the kitchen. This creativity, curiosity and energy in the kitchen was evident from a very young age and has continued through Kalinowski’s almost decade-long culinary career.
“We are incredibly excited to have Amy back,” said Michael Schwartz, owner of the Miami-based restaurant group, in a press release. “She lights up the kitchen with her smile and brings her infectious enthusiasm, passion and creativity to our pastry program. I know she will shine in this lead role!”
Kalinowski is already hard at work in her new post, having most recently created this Cinco de Sundae, a mouthwatering treat for the drinking holiday.
So yeah, we’re drooling. You can find more dessert porn on her Instagram account @AmyPastryCakes. We can’t wait to see what else she has in store.
