La Moderna Introduces Panozzi Sandwiches

moderna

Hailing from the streets of Napoli, the Panozzi was created to serve as a quick, delicious lunch for the working-class in the modernist period in Italy after World War II. Never seen before in South Florida, it’s now available for lunch only in Sunset Harbour on Miami Beach at La Moderna.

This distinctive Italian street food is shaped like a big sandwich, made from high-quality pizza dough and baked in the handmade Stefano Ferrara wood-burning oven. The interior of the Panozzi can be stuffed with a variety of cheeses, meats and vegetables.

The dough is baked flat, and once done it is pulled from the oven, stuffed and then given a second pass in the oven immediately before consumption. Served with a side salad, this lunch is distinctive, filling and delicious. Panozzi options at La Moderna include:

Broccola: served with broccoli rabe, bufala mozzarella and italian sausage

Con Polpette: served with meatballs and tomato sauce

Bresaola: served with bresaola, arugula, cherry tomatoes and parmigiano

Al Pollo: served with grilled chicken, avocado, lettuce and tomato

Prosciutto: served with prosciutto, mushrooms and bufala mozzarella

bareroot

Better Days, the Miami pop up bar that recently celebratedits 1 year anniversary, presents an experimental pop up dining concept called Bareroot!

In conjunction with Bareroot founders and chefs Robbie & Sam, the chefs’ objective is to reinterpret “trashy bar food” with restaurant driven techniques and high quality ingredients. Each dish infuses various flavors and texture in each bite.

One of the dishes being offered “Marble Potato Pintxo” infuses fried chicken with the meatball. It is a checkers-style, flour based Chicarron that’s a traditional street food in Mexico. They’re adding a little tex mex twist with components such as burnt poblano/banana salsa, Duke’s mayo, radishes, micro greens hot sauce and lime.
