Mignonette Hosts Dinner With Uncle Luke

mignonette

It’s not everyday that you get to dine and vibe with one of your heroes. On Wednesday, November 11th our collective dream will come truewhen rapper Luther Campbell comes to dinner at Mignonette! Luther Campbell (aka Uncle Luke) of 2 Live Crew fame, University of Miami infamy and one-time Miami-Dade mayoral candidate, is hosting a dinner party with our very own Chef/Owner Danny Serfer.

Although Campbell and Serfer’s days of raunchy freak fests are behind them, we are going to be as nasty as we want to be for one-night-only. Lolo Reskin, Owner/Founder of Sweat Records created a special playlist for the evening. Serfer and his crew are cooking up a five course meal of down home favorites and Miami classics priced at $90 per person (inclusive of gratuity, excludes beverage purchases).

The menu, created by Serfer with input from Campbell features homemade conch fritters, olive oil poached halibut and a ‘tootsie roll’ for dessert. Each ticket entitles guests to a signed copy of Campbell’s new book, The Book of Luke: My Fight for Truth, Justice and Liberty City (Amistad). The book reveals the untold stories of 2 Live Crew, charts the career of one of hip hop’s earliest godfathers and puts to rest the rumors surrounding the UM football team.

The dinner is limited to 35 seats. Welcome cocktail and passed snacks will begin at 7:30pm; dinner starts promptly at 8pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance through www.mignonetteXuncleluke.brownpapertickets.com. Mignonette is located in Edgewater at 210 NE 18th Street.

Upcoming Events at The Federal

bizkits

With the holiday season approaching and talk about all-things gift-giving, share the gift of the  “Best Biscuits in the U.S.” by Food & Wine with your friends, family and fellow foodies without them having to visit Miami.  The Federal’s infamous biskits — buttery, honey-drizzled and with a cheddar crust, will be on sale on Williams-Sonoma.com beginning on October 29 through the end of December for mail order.

To celebrate, The Federal will be offering dolla’ biskits every Wednesday through the end of the year.  To add to that, $2 beers and $3 pig wings will also be available on Wednesday nights.

Another big announcement at the Federal: a pre-Halloween Beetlejuice inspired dinner on Thursday, October 29. The Fed’s Cesar Zapata is collaborating with TD Hospitality’s Corporate Chef, Jeff Maxfield (Toscana Divino & Ironside Pizza) on a five course menu with beer pairings from Tampa’s Coppertail Brewery.

The menu, inspired by scenes from the movie, will be priced at $55 per person (excluding tax and gratuity). Beetlejuice fans will be in for a treat, as the movie will be playing throughout the night as well as the soundtrack – and costumes are encouraged! See below menu, and let me know if you need additional for upcoming Halloween coverage. Buy your tickets here tickets: www.thefederalmiami.com
