When we last visited Cibo Wine Bar on South Beach, it was for a tasty Miami Spice affair. We were invited back to the SoFi restaurant this past week, and this time our visit had a lot less to do with food and a lot more to do with liquor. And instead of ordering drinks at the bar, we were the ones making them.
Yes, we tried our hands at a mixology competition with some of our closest blogger peers – and we sucked. Like really bad. But the interactive experience helped us not only get more familiar with our #foodiefriends, but also Cibo’s Italian cocktail offerings.
Throughout the evening, we personally crafted three cocktails: The Americano, the Negroni and the Sbagliato. All of them contained equal parts sweet vermouth and campari; the only ingredient that switched was the last one, which was either soda water, gin or prosecco. There was a final drink – blueberry grappa mojito – but at that point we had given up.
It was nice getting acquainted with the bar area at Cibo; we’ve only really just hung out in the main dining room or the rooftop bier garden.
To say the space is gorgeous would be an understatement. This is Cibo’s second location – the first being Coral Gables. It makes us wonder what the new Fort Lauderdale one is like; it’s scheduled to open this week at 4100 North Federal Highway. From what we hear, it’s supposed to be really different so we’re curious to check it out.
And you know what that means, right? Road trip!
