Concrete Beach Hosts Educational Series

concrete beach

A class with no homework, and the only objective is to learn more about beer. No, this isn’t a dream from the past, it’s a real course and it happens every month in Wynwood. Concrete Beach’s Social Hall Manager and “certified beer geek” Jesse Morris hosts a monthly educational series at the brewery, aptly named Brew House Rock.

Morris, who recently became the first craft brewery worker on Wynwood’s Brewers’ Row to become a Certified Cicerone, gets a chance to share his passion and beer expertise in this monthly series. Brew House Rock is designed for anyone who is interested in developing a deeper knowledge and appreciation of craft beer. Each class has a different theme, and includes beer tastings with special ingredients to highlight subtle flavor notes, such as caramel, toffee and fruit.

March’s theme is “Incredible Yeasts & Where to Find Them!” Guests will learn all about yeasts, the building blocks of beer and every brewer’s favorite microorganism. Conversation topics include where yeasts come from, how different yeasts, such as lager and ale.

Click here to sign up for “Incredible Yeasts & Where to Find Them” on March 7th.  The $5 ticket includes the hour-long class and tastings.

Now Open: The Sarsaparilla Club

sarsaparilla club

Renowned chefs Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth, who built their foundation while working together at Gigi, Yardbird Southern Table & Bar Miami, and more recently Root & Bone in New York are thrilled to be returning to South Florida with the launch of the unique and energizing concept The Sarsaparilla Club, located inside the iconic Shelborne Wyndham Grand hotel.

A street-side vintage VW bus will welcome diners to the whimsical and cozy indoor-outdoor poolside 130-seat restaurant. The Sarsaparilla Club, named by McInnis and Booth, pays homage to the unique attributes of the sarsaparilla root, which is used in a number of cultural cuisines (including Australian, Asian, and of course American). Following the success of Root & Bone in Manhattan, both McInnis and Booth wanted to stay consistent while searching for another name that fit within the Root & Bone family.

Merging the realms of American comfort food and Cantonese Dim Sum, The Sarsaparilla Club will showcase soul nurturing, conscientiously sourced, farm-fresh ingredients in two formats — traditional Dim Sum carts and an a la carte menu.

The restaurant is located inside the Shelborne Wyndham Grand hotel. For more information visit sarsaparillaclub.com or call 305-341-1329.

Served in both sausage and veggie versions, the GranDDe Burrito is available any time of day at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide for a limited time.

As thoughts turn to warmer weather, guests can sip the flavor of their favorite scoop with the return of coffee flavors inspired by Baskin-Robbins ice cream. Choices include a new Pistachio flavor, and returning fan favorites, Butter Pecan and Cookie Dough. All flavors are available in hot or iced coffee, lattes and macchiatos at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants through spring.

Finally, Dunkin’ Donuts is giving donut lovers a delicious new way to ring in spring, introducing the new Strawberry Shortcake Croissant Donut.
