Throughout the month of December, Lure Fishbar at Loews Miami Beach Hotel is collaborating with Bowery Meat Company, bringing some of the New York steakhouse’s signature items down south. With only a few days left until the New Year, time is running out to enjoy what we consider some of our favorite dishes of 2016. Here’s what you can expect during your visit.
The Bowery Meat Company menu is best experienced with a large party, so that you can order everything (and you will definitely want to order everything). The selections include three appetizers: Zucchini Carpaccio, Roasted Cauliflower Steak and Chinese BBQ Pork Belly. Each one is very different from the other, but rest assured that you’ll be satisfied with any of the selections.
It’s hard to get excited about zucchini, but the carpaccio turned out to be the sleeper hit of the table. Somehow, the combination of pistachios, chili flakes, feta and mint just worked, and we had to fight over the last slice. The roasted cauliflower steak and Chinese BBQ pork belly were more immediate hits — especially the latter. The pork belly with butter lettuce and pickled vegetables just blasts you with flavor the second it touches your tongue.
The proteins — a 38-ounce Côte de Boeuf and a Grilled Pork Chop — are the main reasons we suggest coming with a large party. The 28-day dry-aged steak is an Instagram-worthy dish that easily fed our table of four. And yes, it tastes as good as it looks at a medium rare temperature (we don’t recommend going higher than that).
Although the côte de boeuf is obviously the star of the menu, the grilled pork chop is not to be ignored. It’s oh-so-juicy and comes with a Korean BBQ sauce that will have you licking the plate clean. While the entrees can fill you up on their own, you need to get at least one of the three sides available: Creamed Spinach, Patatas Bravas and Fondant Potato. Our favorite was the spinach aka cheese heaven aka a heart attack. It’s worth every single calorie and clogged artery. SO MUCH PARM.
For dessert (if you manage to have room at this point), there’s the New York Cheesecake and Bread Pudding. Both are pretty simple yet get the job done in spades. In particular, the bread pudding — a chocolate and banana concoction — is the perfect combo of hot and cold and soft and crispy to please your palate.
Needless to say, we really enjoyed ourselves at the Bowery Meat Company popup. We weren’t familiar with the New York restaurant until this dinner, but we’ll definitely be making an effort to visit whenever we’re in NYC. Although this specific popup only lasts through December 31, Lure has more collaborations in the works. And if they’re anything like this one, 2017 is going to be a very happy new year.
