La Moderna is elevating their cocktail game with a new negroni menu. Now offering four different takes on the classic drink, the Sunset Harbour eatery continues to be one of our favorite spots for creative concoctions and great Italian food.
If you’ve never had a negroni, there are three key ingredients you need to be aware of: gin, vermouth and Campari. Together, the trio makes for a punchy libation and a powerful first impression. Newbies should start with the Aged Negroni, La Moderna’s modern variation with Martin Miller Gin, Cocchi Torino Sweet Vermouth and Bitter Gancia American. Taste some smokiness? That’s because it’s been aged in American Oak barrels for six months.
Once you have a handle on the restaurant’s signature negroni, you can get a little more adventurous with the Greetings From Italy and Caramel Salted Boulevardier. The former uses Rutte Celery Gin, black olive foam and a Parma Ham breadstick to take your taste buds on a flavorful trek through Italian flavors. Whiskey fans will enjoy the latter drink, which replaces gin with bourbon and adds salted caramel syrup for some sweeter notes.
The final negroni on the menu — the Vintage Negroni — is a blast from the past. Made up of Gordon`s Gin 1970, Bitter Campari 1970, and Cinzano Sweet Vermouth 1970, the combined age of the cocktail exceeds 100 years! These new negronis complement an already robust bar program and impressive happy hour at La Moderna, so stop in and check them out. You’ll probably find us at the bar.
