3rd Annual SoFlo Cake and Candy Expo Returns

Melanie Richard and Natasha O’Connor, the women behind the SoFlo Cake and Candy Expo, once found it very difficult to find baking supplies in South Florida. Passionate home bakers with a sweet tooth, they decided to open Sweet Life Cake and Candy Supply to fill the void that other South Florida home bakers were coming across.

Fast forward to 2015, and they launched the SoFlo Cake and Candy Expo, a trade show for home bakers and professionals alike to discover the latest in baking and decorating trends, purchase the new supplies, and even sit in on demos and classes. This year, the event is taking place April 28-30 at the Miami Airport Convention Center.

“After opening up Sweet Life Cake and Candy Supply, we started attending trade shows all around the country in order to be able to provide our customers with the latest tools in baking and decorating,” says Melanie Richard, co-founder of SoFlo Cake and Candy Expo. “We realized that even though we had a store that offered the tools and supplies that home bakers and professional bakers are looking for, there was still the need for something bigger – a trade show – and that’s how we started SoFlo Cake and Candy Expo,” continued Natasha O’Connor, co-founder.

Going on its third year, the SoFlo Cake and Candy Expo is now one of the largest and most interactive cake and candy expos in the country, and it’s located right in South Florida. The past two years, the expo has seen thousands of cake and candy enthusiasts walk through the doors of the convention center from all over the country and even the Caribbean to shop from the industry’s top vendors and suppliers as well as take classes from some of the most talented artists in the industry.

“As Miami natives and witnessing first hand the large baking community that resides here, it was important for us to bring a trade show like SoFlo Cake and Candy Expo to South Florida,” added Richard.

The 2017 SoFlo Cake and Candy Expo promises to be bigger and better than ever with Shop and Sip day added on Friday and a cake competition with over $8,000 in cash prizes.
