MFP’s Picks of the Month – February 2018

picks-of-the-month
If you haven’t noticed, we go out to eat a lot. It’s sometimes hard to keep track of the best spots we’ve visited each month (and week and day). That’s why we’ve decided to put together a monthly list of our top picks. You can expect restaurants both young and old on this list — we’re always discovering new spots on our foodie adventures.

Here are our top picks for February 2018.

Three

Need a new spot for your Sunday funday? Consider making a reservation at Three, the Wynwood concept from Florida’s own Norman Van Aken. At this globally inspired restaurant, expect fun twists on brunch classics along with more modern fare that’s sure to please your palate. Shrimp cocktail, grilled cheese, strawberry shortcake … it’s all drool worthy.

Best of all, the menu is a steal for the quality. Read about it in our feature story.

Cream Parlor

When we think of Cream Parlor, our minds automatically think of ice cream and other sweets. Yet their savory food deserves just as much attention. Savory pancakes are two words we never thought we’d see together, but Cream has made it a part of our foodie vocabulary.

The cafe’s pancakes use a crepe-type batter for a different, smoother consistency — you have to try it for yourself. And don’t worry: There are sweet variations available as well, along with Cream’s bevy of beverages to wash everything down

Itamae

St. Roch Market in the Design District is now open, and the food hall is home to a wide range of vendors that serve everything from pasta and fried chicken to hummus and bao buns. Among the vendors is Itamae, a Peruvian-Japanese concept from the former chef of 26 Sushi & Tapas in Surfside. One taste of the Ghost in the Shell roll — a spicy yellowtail and tuna creation — is enough to sell you; this is some of the freshest maki in town. Seriously, turn off your computer and go pay them a visit.
