We love brunch, and we love Asian cuisine. So when the opportunity arose to experience both these things in one sitting, we couldn’t say no. Tanuki on Miami Beach has made a name for itself with its delicious twists on Japanese and Chinese dishes, and its brunch selections maintain that reputation.
Served on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., Tanuki’s brunch offerings run the gamut from dim sum and sushi to bao buns and poke bowls. Whether you’re in the mood for something light or something diet destroying, you’ll find it here. Every meal should start with the Dim Sum Special of the Day. The shrimp hargow were perfect; if brunch was made up of just those dumplings, we would have still left completely satisfied.
Is maki more your style? The Chef’s Sushi Plate with crispy snapper, tuna and salmon is large and should fill you up nicely. Guests looking for something a little healthier will find lots of flavor in the Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Quinoa Bowl as well as the Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl. Our recommendation, though: Stop counting calories and get the Crispy BBQ Pork Belly Bao. It’s a giant, and it tastes as every bit as amazing as it looks. Sharing may be caring, but this is one item you’ll want to keep to yourself.
Patrons not in the mood for brunch can also order from Tanuki’s regular menu. Also available are Tanuki’s signature cocktails, which are a must for any occasion. Not only do they make for great photos, but they’re refreshing AF.
One sip of the Hanamatsuri (vodka, lychee, oolong tea, smoked coconut, rosebud) or the Samurai Mule (tequila, kaffir-lime-infushed sherry, grilled apple chili jam, ginger beer) and you’ll wish you were on the sand enjoying these beauties. Of course, you can always opt bottomless selections like prosecco and bellinis as well. With generous options like these, Tanuki makes getting ready for the workweek a lot more bearable.
