Miami has no shortage of steakhouses, especially in the Downtown Miami and Brickell neighborhoods. Since they’re practically on every corner, it’s easy for all these restaurants to blend together.
But then there’s Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, a Biscayne Boulevard staple that’s been the site of many a power lunch, happy hour and special occasion. It has stuck around for years and for good reason: When it comes to the traditional steakhouse experience, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse delivers in spades.
As you’d expect, portions are plentiful. Items like the Seafood Platter — lobster claws, shrimp and crab galore — and Sizzling Canadian Bacon are HUGE, and they do their job of whetting your palate for the main attraction: steak. Our two cuts (Prime NY Sirloin Steak and Petit Filet Mignon) had us bickering over which we liked more. One of us preferred the flavor of the former, while the other found the latter more impressive.
Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference — you can’t really go wrong, so follow your instinct (and stomach). If you order appetizers, you can probably skip the sides since you’ll be too full. But for larger parties or appetites, Mashed Potatoes and Spinach are just a few of the tasty options available to accompany your steak. And of course, there’s always dessert, which in our case was a decadent Tiramisu.
In the end, Wolfgang’s doesn’t reinvent the wheel. It just refines it. The result? A great steakhouse experience with a waterfront view to boot.
