When it comes to food, Aventura Mall has been pulling out all the stops lately. Not only did it open a new food hall (Treats) on the third floor, but the mall also opened a new wing that features some big names in the culinary world. One of those names is Serafina.
The New York Italian spot has branched out of the Big Apple, setting down roots in Miami to make our food scene all the better. We’re always hungry for great pizza and pasta, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at Serafina Miami.
This is the brand’s only Florida location, and it’s worth the trek if you’re in the tri-county area. The menu is big — almost Cheesecake Factory-esque — but it’s not overwhelming or all over the place. You have your pizzas, pastas, fish and meats along with tasty starters and salads like the Buffalo Mozzarella and the Avocado “San Pietro” Salad that pop with flavor — you can tell all the ingredients are super-fresh, prime products.
Pizzas get a lot of praise around here and rightfully so. Both our Tartufo Nero Pizza and V.I.P Margherita won us over the second we took a bite. The former, with its bouquet of Italian cheeses and black truffle, made for a ultra-decadent pie that’s the definition of the “Treat Yourself” mantra. We felt guilty after eating it, but omg did we enjoy every moment of it. Unlike the tartufo nero pizza, the V.I.P margherita was low-key but no less delicious; the tomatoes, in particular, really stood out.
Pastas are hearty, and we ended up taking ours home for lunch the next day. Serafina’s Rigatoni Alla Bolognese and Farfalle al Limoncello both satisfied our appetites, although the latter slightly edged out the other out due to the cream sauce; the touch of cream enhanced the taste of the bow ties and baby shrimp to make our plate even more delectable.
Panna Cotta isn’t something that normally — or ever — excites us, but IT’S BANANAS. Seriously: MIX UP THE BERRIES WITH IT AND WAIT FOR THE FIREWORKS TO START IN YOUR MOUTH. Who knew a simple panna cotta with Madagascar vanilla and mixed berries would make such a lasting impression? The Apple Tart New Forno a Legna is also good, but opt for the panna cotta if you only choose one dessert.
With the addition of Serafina, Aventura Mall is becoming quite the dining destination. We don’t typically drive up to the area, but Serafina is motivation enough for us to break that trend. Oh yeah, one more thing: Check out the bathrooms. Trust us.
