Thursdays can be relatively low-key (especially when you have 9-5 jobs like us), but at Phuc Yea, they’re anything but. The Vietnamese-Cajun restaurant turns up on Thursdays with fun drinks and oyster specials that help us forget the workweek. Instead of counting down to the weekend, you’ll be counting down to Tiki Thursdays.
Each Thursday, guests can enjoy $1.50 oysters and a delicious selection of $8 tiki drinks. Cocktails like the Singapore Sangwich and Coladita Vietnamita take classic drinks — the Singapore sling and piña colada, in this case — and liven them with funky glassware and flavors. Complementing the concoctions are two tasty oyster offerings: Garlic Butter/Lemongrass Roasted Oysters and Deep Fried Oysters with Buffalo Sauce.
Of the two, our favorite was the latter. The texture and taste are addicting; few things are as satisfying as that crunch and buffalo sauce. While the oysters and tiki drinks are the stars of the night, patrons can also order off the regular menu. That includes highlights like the pork and shrimp Summer Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll as well as the Caramel Chicken Wings. We recommend showing up sooner rather than later on Thursdays, as the restaurant’s beloved Pho is only available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — it’s a must.
Now you know: For that workweek escape, head on over to Phuc Yea to start your weekend early.
