Labor Day 2018: Where to Celebrate

Labor Day weekend is upon us. What are you doing for the long weekend? Here’s a list of specials and celebrations taking place across the city.

1-800-LUCKY

Join us for dinner and tunes on September 2 for Undr the Radr Sundays at 1-800-LUCKY! Starting at 5pm, Roger Sanchez will be joined by Supernova, DJ Oliver and Ivano Bellini with music that will keep you dancing until closing time.

1 Hotel South Beach

Enjoy a ‘Rhythm & Rum’ party at the Rooftop at 1 Hotel South Beach on Monday, September 3rd from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Join Appleton Rum as they host a rooftop party 18 stories above the ocean with specialty rum cocktails, complimentary hair braiding and reggae music to jam to.

Special guest bartenders Michael Albuerne and Krysten Legorburo from Ariete will join the party as well. The party is 21+ and open to the public – those interested must RSVP to 1SBEvents@1Hotels.com.

The Anderson

This Labor Day weekend, The Anderson will be hosting All Play and No Labor BBQ, a Caribbean style BBQ event with Proper Sausage on Sunday, September 2. Chef Jimmy Lebron of 27 Restaurant & Bar will be crafting a special menu for the occasion, featuring Pan Con Lechon, your new favorite Haitian Style Wings, and a variety of sausages and sides. The party will kick off at 5 p.m., expect live tunes, lots of festive cocktails and some cool surprises.

Biscayne Bay Brewing Company

On Friday, August 31st and on Saturday, September 1st the brewery will be having 1/2 off growler fills from 3pm-7pm. Saison will be going for half of the price for to-go 6 packs at $5.00 or a case for $18.00.

On Sunday, September 2nd the brewery will be having pitchers for $7.50 or 10 wings and a pitcher for $15.00. This special is going to be running for the UM vs LSU game. The brewery will stay open until the game ends. The brewery will be closed on Monday, September 3rd.

Casa Faena

Kick off your Labor Day weekend at Casa Faena with live entertainment, specialty craft cocktails and delicious South American-inspired dishes at the historic hotel’s candlelit restaurant and outdoor terrace.

COYO Taco Wynwood

Every Sunday is Lovers & Friends night at Coyo Taco, where all your favorite R&B tunes will be playing all night starting at 10pm. This Labor Day weekend, we will be joined by Latenite and Kamari Esson.

Doc B’s

Known for its selection of flavorful dishes that are all made from scratch daily, Doc B’s is the newest hotspot to open in Coral Gables. This Labor Day starting at 4 p.m. – close, Doc B’s will offer $6 Bacardi mojitos and $6 Homage Burgers which feature a warm sesame seed bun, pickles, white onions and Thousand Island dressing.

ETARU (Hallandale and Las Olas)

Whether enjoying the long weekend by the beach or in the heart of Downtown, both ETARU locations are offering an event-filled weekend for South Florida locals and visitors alike to celebrate Labor Day.

Kicking off on Friday, August 31, ETARU Hallandale will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a premium tasting menu and entertainment including Taiko Drummers and a DJ during dinner.

On Saturday, September 1, guests may start the party early and enjoy an extended Happy Hour at both ETARU locations. The Happy Hour menu offers $6 signature cocktails, $5 house pours, sake and wine and $3 Sapporo beers, as well as $5 bar snacks. ETARU Hallandale will run Happy Hour specials from 12PM until 8PM and open the third-floor terrace lounge to the public, while ETARU Las Olas will offer the menu from 11:30AM until 7:30PM.

Continuing the weekend festivities, ETARU Hallandale will host a family-friendly circus-themed Kid’s Field Day on the beach on Sunday, September 2. During dinner, both locations will kick off their weekly Sake Sundays special, offering 50 percent off Sake Bottles during dinner.

To finish the holiday weekend off strong, both ETARU locations will host a decadent Monday Brunch on Labor Day. Priced at $55 per person, it will be ETARU’s signature brunch offering featuring bottomless pours of Whispering Angel Rosé and a robust spread of hot and cold dishes. The brunch will be offered in Hallandale from 12:30PM until 4PM and in Las Olas from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Glass & Vine

Celebrate Labor Day at the earthy, yet contemporary garden oasis situated in the heart of Peacock Park, Glass & Vine. The restaurant is extending their signature weekend brunch to Monday, September 3rd, serving Floridian inspired cuisine crafted by award-winning, star chef Giorgio Rapicavoli.

Dig into brunch plates like Avocado Toast ($10) garnished with toasted sesame, lime and dried Fresno chile; Crab Cake Benedict ($19) complete with whipped hollandaise and Old Bay potatoes; Carbonara Fries ($12) – black truffle crema, bacon, Grana Padano; Caprese ($15) – Florida tomato, pea pesto, local stracciatella and cured meat; and Local Fish Tiradito ($15) – rocoto leche de tigre, sweet potato and cilantro.

As no true brunch is complete without a few boozy selections, brunch cocktails include the Bloody Mary ($10) – sazon complete, frita sauce, lime; Mimosa ($10) – Florida orange juice and Charles Lafitte sparkling; and Sangria ($10) – Chablis, Sauvignon Blanc, passion fruit vodka, and fresh fruit. Glass & Vine is located at 2820 McFarlane Road in Coconut Grove. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Kiki on the River

Vamos Celebrar when Mykonos meets the Florianopolis at Kiki on the River with a Brazil themed daytime party. The first sixty guests receive a complimentary welcome Leblon Frozen Passion Fruit Batida (picture below). Sip & celebrate to the sounds of Ladour and Denian Costa, Brazilian dancers, drummers and feast on your favorite Greek classics like Tomato Salad, Grilled Octopus, Shrimp Saganaki, Lavraki, Lamb Chops and more.

La Côte at Fontainebleau Miami Beach

La Côte, Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s swank, two-story Mediterranean oceanfront restaurant and bar, is hosting an End of Summer Labor Day Soiree Saturday, September 1st from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. Guests can celebrate by dining, imbibing and enjoying live entertainment featuring a DJ, festive dancers and a saxophone player. Lolo’s Surf Cantina

From September 1st to the 3rd, Lolo’s Surf Cantina is appreciating Americans’ hard work with special all-day pricing on American beers. Enjoy Bud Light, MIA Weiss, La Rubia and Funky Buddha Hop Gun for $6. There will also be $10 specials for Jack Daniels because who doesn’t want to enjoy whiskey on a national holiday.

Malibu Farm

The farm-to-table dining destination with unbeatable oceanside views will be offering a special Labor Day menu on Monday, September 3 for lunch and dinner. Priced at $45 per person, guests can enjoy a three-course meal paired with an eight-ounce draft beer from Biscayne Bay Brewing Company.

Malibu Farm will be serving up Burrata and Fruit with arugula, pomegranate, sesame seed brittle and maple balsamic to start followed by BBQ favorites including Slow Cooked Pork, Low and Slow Cooked Brisket and Smoked Chicken Thighs. Diners can also indulge in sides like Malibu Farm’s popular Couscous Mac and Cheese, Charred Corn and Broccoli Mash, before finishing the meal with a chef selected sweet treat.

Malibu Farm will be rolling out their new Oyster Cart offering, priced at $3 per oyster – each served with a side of mignonette and cocktail sauce.

Nautilus South Beach

Presented by Jack Daniels, Nautilus South Beach hosts two pool parties at noon in collaboration with radio stations and renowned DJs.

On Saturday, September 1, DJ Zog and Lucy Lopez bring Power House to the hotel’s 1,890 sq. ft. heated saltwater beachfront pool, with Kevin Lyttle and Mr. Vegas.

On Sunday, September 2, Alex Sensation, Chyno, Darrel and Brytiago transform Nautilus South Beach in El Nuevo Zol’s Beach House, with specialty whiskey sips.

Nikki Beach

Nikki Beach Miami celebrate’s Labor Day, Monday September 3rd, with a French-inspired picnic. Guests can sip and snack on delicious baskets filled with rosé, fresh fruit, cheese and charcuterie platter, and a baguette while lounging on specially priced daybeds and cabanas. Guests can also enjoy an active lineup of games spanning volleyball, limbo competitions and Ping Pong and dance to the tunes by DJ Felipe.

Playa at the Diplomat Beach Resort

Start your Labor Day weekend early on Friday, August 31st from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m and enjoy a phenomenal night of ‘Playa Island Jams – Labor Day Edition’. Located at Playa, a poolside, beachfront Nuevo Latino concept, guests will sip on cocktails, munch on Tropical Guac and enjoy the live musical stylings of D.Calle. On Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 3rd), guests can head across the bridge to the Diplomat Landing where Bristol’s Burgers and Portico Beer & Wine Garden will be offering $5 food and beverage specials from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Seaspice

On Sunday, September 2, Seaspice hosts an end of summer Labor Day celebration with Moët & Chandon, featuring DJs, live music, entertainers and specials on bubbly to be paired with signature brunch staples like the Seaspice Lobster Benedict, Power Waffle & Acai Berry, and Wagyu Burger. The riverside party will continue through the night, Seaspice style.

Stiltsville

Kick-back on Labor Day at Stiltsville Fish Bar in Sunset Harbour, as they extend their brunch for the three-day weekend! The menu, crafted by the culinary duo Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth features modern takes on classic seafood dishes and refreshing cocktails made especially for brunch patrons.

The chefs are whipping up Pork Belly Bacon and Sweet Corn Pancakes ($18) with poached eggs, pickled green tomato chow-chow, tomato jam and Fresno chilies; Baby Kale and Pimento Cheese Omelet ($17) with local farm eggs, house-made pimento cheese, Farmer Dave’s baby kale and tomato jam; and Bayleaf and Citrus Crusted Fried Chicken (Half Bird $22; Whole Bird $39) with watermelon pickle salad and Stiltsville hot sauce.

Chill out with specialty cocktails ($12 each) like the refreshing Sunny Harper Rose with passion fruit, St. Germaine, Aperol, citrus rose and angostura bitters; The “Fat Flamingolada” is a take on the classic Piña Colada with Absolut Elyx, Bacardi White and Dark rum, lemongrass, coconut milk and pineapple; and Square Grouper with Olmeca Altos Tequila, charred pineapple, key lime and smoky jalapeño.
