MFP’s Picks of the Month – July 2018

picks-of-the-month
If you haven’t noticed, we go out to eat a lot. It’s sometimes hard to keep track of the best spots we’ve visited each month (and week and day). That’s why we’ve decided to put together a monthly list of our top picks. You can expect restaurants both young and old on this list — we’re always discovering new spots on our foodie adventures.

Here are our top picks for July 2018.

Arson

Chef Deme Lomas doesn’t hold anything back with his new summer menu at Arson. These latest additions are jam-packed with flavors that impress from start to finish. Selections like the mussels with pork sausage, charbroiled tomato soup, and the Argentinean shrimp are exquisite; there’s a reason he’s been nominated for a James Beard Award. If you only try one item, make it the jamon Iberico and roast beef flat bread — my God.

Ariete

When you eat out as much as we do, food can get boring. Which is why we’re always seeking places that innovate — like Ariete. Chef Michael Beltran’s brunch offerings turns Sunday Funday on its head with fun takes on classic brunch dishes. Example: the frita Benedict — the photo says it all.

Other highlights include the porchetta hash and French toast with foie gras, both of which will have you licking your lips. Before you leave, get some pastelitos for the road from Pastelito Papi. Your Sunday will be all the more delicious for it.

No Name Chinese

We’re suckers for new menus, and the summer menu at No Name Chinese is no exception. Chef Pablo Zitzmann continues to put South Miami on the map with dishes that wow at first bite. All you need to do is try the San Bei Ji to know that this place is something special; that three-cup chicken with Thai basil sauce and roasted roots is probably one of our favorite dishes at the moment. Odds are it will become yours, too, along with the yusheng (Chinese-style raw fish).
