New Dinner Items at Upland
Upland Miami, the California-inspired South of Fifth hotspot, is giving guests a way to elevate their taste buds and dinner plans with new dinner dishes. Available daily during dinner service, Chef Justin Smillie introduces seven new plates to the menu combining light, refreshing and summer-inspired flavors including hints of citrus ponzu and lemon soy vinaigrette. Chef highlights include the Kabayaki Trout, Miso Tempura Zucchini and the Tomato Salad, which has made its way back on the menu. The dishes are priced a la carte and range from $10 to $38.
Wine Dinner at Council Oak
In its new location adjacent to Hard Rock Event Center, Council Oak Steaks & Seafood at the AAA Four Diamond-rated Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – Hollywood will host an exclusive Orin Swift Wine Dinner on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Guests will enjoy a four-course dinner prepared by Council Oak’s culinary team led by Executive Chef Brian Doyle.
Each course will be paired with wine selections from the premier Napa Valley winery, Orin Swift Cellars. Hosted by E. & J. Gallo’s Luxury Consultant Stanley Gross, the night will begin with a welcome reception at 6:30 p.m. in the restaurant’s intimate bar and lounge, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The event is priced at $175 per person (excluding tax and gratuity).

Soho Studios Host Taco Takeover
The 1st Annual Cuervo Tradicional Taco Takeover and Cocktail Competition brought to you by Cannonball Productions and Thrillist is coming to Soho Studios in Miami (2136 NW 1st Ave) on Saturday, Sept 8th. Come hungry, because you’ll spend all day chowing down on the best tacos and Mexican-inspired dishes from 10+ of your favorite chefs. The best local bartenders will be on site serving up submissions to the Jose Cuervo Tradicional Cocktail Competition. It’s your job to sample them all and pick the winners, but since it’s an entire day dedicated to tacos and tequila, you basically win just by attending.
The event kicks off at 6:30pm and will also feature live music, games, tequila tasting stations. Early bird pricing begins at $39 for a limited time only and includes unlimited access to tacos, cocktails and beer. Early Access tickets start at $49 and VIP tickets start at $69, guaranteeing guests a half-hour early entry and access to a sweet lounge with an ever-flowing Cuervo Tradicional Paloma bar, churro station, and a queso fountain.
Cannonball Productions is committed to partnering with local non-profit organizations and food recovery programs in every host city. Leftover food from the event will be donated to homeless and hungry Miami residents through Forage Forward.

Instant Karma at Beaker & Gray
Wynwood’s premier watering hole, Beaker & Gray makes Happy Hour more joyful with its monthly promotion, Instant Karma. Co-owners Brian Nasajon and Ben Potts have upped the ante each month when the hip eatery joins forces with a local non-profit organization and donates a portion of their Happy Hour proceeds to benefit the cause.
All Day Foundation, the charity partner for August, is a non-profit organization created through Miami’s renowned Bar Lab, dedicated to supporting the children in our communities by raising awareness across the food and beverage industry.
This month’s edition of Instant Karma will run from Monday, August 27 through Thursday, August 30. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., happy hour goers can enjoy a selection of $5 beers; $6 wines; and $7 cocktails – including Beaker & Gray’s signature Moscow Mule; Tommy’s Margarita; Sazerac; Tom Collins; Daiquiri; and Old Fashioned. $5 bites on the Happy Hour menu include Cheesy Fries and Garlic Churro.
Macchialina Debuts The Big Macch
Carnivores, IHOB loathers and burger aficionados, rejoice! Beginning August 20th, Miami Beach’s rustic Italian outpost, Macchialina, will be offering an artisanal, grass-fed beef burger in addition to the a la carte menu for three days only. The Big Macch, crafted by Executive Chef Michael Pirolo will vaunt a Red Top chuck brisket and sirloin blend patty topped with Italian Fontina Val d’Aosta, sautéed porcini mushrooms, salsa Genovese and oven roasted shallots with a gratuitous amount of summer truffles served on a toasted Sullivan Street Bakery bun.
Pro Tip: There is a limited number of burgers each night so be sure to reserve yours when making your reservation.
Another Pro Tip: Don’t even try asking for ketchup.
Special Full Moon Takeover at 1 Hotel
1 Hotel South Beach always celebrates the full moon, but for the first time, it will host a “Crystals and Caftans Full Moon Party” from 9 p.m. – late night on Sunday, August 26. The nightcap party on the 1 Rooftop will boast pop-up shops selling crystals and caftans, tarot card readings, a telescope for moon gazing and beats by DJ Naim Zarzour. Other activations on property for the day include:
– Happy Hour at DRIFT from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. with $10 moon-and-astrology-themed cocktails and Astral Card reading
– Sound healing on the Northeast Terrace from 7 – 9 p.m.
– Full Moon Yoga at The South Lawn from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
