If there’s one word to describe Boulud Sud, it’s consistent. We’ve been to the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant several times since its opening, and it’s consistently delicious. This year’s Miami Spice lunch menu maintains that trend: Diverse, tasty creations are in store for anyone who comes in to try the special two-month menu by Chef Clark Bowen.
Before we dive into the selections, there’s one thing you should know: Boulud Sud’s menu changes throughout the different weeks. Our preview consisted of dishes from various weeks, so we’re happy to report that the menu should shine regardless of when you visit. The first course for our preview: dips — and lot of them. We were welcomed by the likes of Hummus, Muhammara and Babaganoush (::swoons::). All of the dips were impressive and plentiful; we didn’t have to fight for the last bites since there was plenty to go around. That said, we can’t stop raving about the flavorful combo of babaganoush and lavash. If we could have ordered the baba + lavash three times over, we would have.
Salad-wise, Boulud Sud offered up their “Horiatiki” Classic Greek Salad and Kale Fattoush to ensure we got our greens. The Greek salad is exactly what it sounds like; if you want something familiar, go for it — it hits the spot. We’d rather opt for the latter, though; the kale’s buttermilk dressing is a winner. Other highlights on the Spice menu included a hefty Swordfish and a Catalan Grilled Skirt Steak, both of which will likely leave you with leftovers. There’s also a Moroccan Shakshuka should you not be in the mood for meat or fish; the flavors weren’t for us, but we can definitely see people scarfing it down with abandon.
Desserts speak for themselves — just look at the photos. We’ve always been a big fan of Pastry Chef Saeko Nemoto’s awesome sweets, and this year’s offerings don’t disappoint. For something light-ish, get the Assiette de Fromages (aka cheese assortment). Otherwise, get on that Lavender Peach Zalabia with Tunisian doughnut, labneh mousse, tupelo honey and olive oil gelato. We’re drooling just from the description. The Mascarpone Cheesecake is also a solid choice. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the selections.
Miami Spice may have just started, but Boulud Sud is already pulling out the stops. If you’re looking for a lunch that’s equal parts value and delicious, make your way to Boulud Sud. Odds are you’ll be back again before Sept. 30.
