It’s rare that we head down south from our Flagami abode. Going to places like Dadeland is a trek, and it really has to be worth our while for us to make the trip. However, all you have to say is “Barley” and we’re there. The American brasserie recently debuted several new menu items, and we had a chance to try quite a few. If you need a compelling reason to visit Dadeland, Chef Jorgie Ramos is giving you plenty.
When we think of Kendall, good food isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. You always see South Beach, Wynwood, Brickell and other neighborhoods getting all the attention — never Kendall.
It’s a shame that the neighborhood is often overlooked, as there are several hidden gems to be found throughout the community. Devon Seafood & Steak is one of them.
I don’t bake or cook. I am essentially useless in the kitchen. So when I was asked to participate in the Bakers and Bloggers Boozy Baking Competition, I was obviously hesitant. But after being reassured that there would be an emphasis on the “boozy” aspect, I was all for it.
It’s finally here to stay: Downtown Dadeland’s Barley has a new permanent home, and it’s just a few blocks east of its original location. Despite landlord issues, construction setbacks and just about every other problem imaginable afflicting the American brasserie, Chef/Owner Jorgie Ramos and his team haven’t missed a beat and are back to cranking out the quality food that diners have come to expect.
