On March 26, nearly 500 attendees gathered to watch five chef teams duke it out at the ultimate pork feast inside The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach. Cochon555, a national tour promoting global food cultures and family farming, treated guests to over 1,500 pounds of heritage-breed pork and plenty of adult beverages throughout the 3-hour affair.
This goes without saying, but we eat a lot. And many times, we leave a meal feeling stuffed and tired (and wondering how we’re going to burn the calories). Not so at Manna Life Food, a Downtown Miami plant-based eatery that specializes in food that’s not only good for you but also makes you feel good.
Local foodies have reason to rejoice: Chef Geoffrey Zakarian is back in South Florida. Last month, the celebrity chef opened Point Royal inside the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood. The coastal American restaurant is a modern take on a seaside restaurant, featuring a menu that emphasizes seafood but also includes savory bites like Chef Zakarian’s signature Ugly Burger. No matter what your protein preference, there’s something delicious waiting for you here.
“In Santiago we trust.” That’s exactly what we were thinking after trying the new Mexican concept from Cantina La Veinte’s Executive Chef Santiago Gomez. Unlike Cantina, Tacology at Brickell City Centre is a more casual affair that emphasizes street food creations but also brings some upscale dishes along for the ride. Items are meant to be shared, but here’s the thing: The food is so good that you won’t want to.
Every other day, it seems like a new restaurant is opening in Miami. One day, it’s a sushi spot. Another day, it’s an Italian joint. The week after, it’s a Peruvian restaurant. It’s food that we’ve seen — and eaten — time and time again.
Not so at Big Easy Winebar & Grill, which was among the first tenants to open at Brickell City Centre. The restaurant, which specializes in South African-inspired fare, is a breath of fresh air in a food scene that’s sorely lacking this cuisine. If you’re looking to spice up your dinner plans — literally and figuratively — Big Easy has you covered.
