It’s easy to miss Lekoke Wine & Bites while you’re driving down SW 8th Street, more popularly known as Calle Ocho. The cozy, unassuming wine bar doesn’t have the giant signs that hot spots like Ball and Chain, Azucar and other Little Havana staples have — blink and you’ll pass right by it. But although Lekoke lacks the snazzy window dressing of its neighbors, it deserves just as much of your attention.

In case you don’t know, Proof Pizza & Pasta is one of our favorite restaurants. When you have pizza and pasta in your name, those items better be good. And indeed, Executive Chef/Owner Justin Flit, Chef Malcolm Prude and the Proof team make some of the best in town.

Yesterday, it was our turn to be the chefs at the Midtown Miami restaurant. The eatery closed for the night and gave guests the opportunity to try their skills at cutting different pasta shapes, including tortellini and tagliatelle. Read more

New Menus Pop Up at db Bistro Moderne

A lot has changed since the last time we were at db Bistro Moderne in Downtown Miami. Most notably, former Executive Chef Jason Pringle departed the restaurant earlier this year and was replaced by Clark Bowen, who served as sous chef at the Miami restaurant for the past five years. The recently launched spring menu, which debuted back in May, is Bowen’s first big opportunity to add his creative flair to the restaurant’s flair.

But that’s not all that’s new at db Bistro. From now through the end of July, guests can take part in the Boulud Sud popup that recreates fan favorites from Chef Daniel Boulud’s popular Mediterranean restaurant. Regardless of what you decide to eat, you’re in for a good time.

Antica Mare: Not Just Another Italian Restaurant

When we think of neighborhoods with good food, Shorecrest has typically been at the bottom of the list. Scratch that: it’s been nowhere on the list. But with recent additions like Pinch Kitchen and The Anderson in Shorecrest/El Portal/Mimo/Upper Eastside/whatever you want to call it, that whole area around the 79th Causeway is transforming into quite the foodie destination.

Antica Mare, with its delicious Italian offerings, should help bolster the neighborhood’s culinary identity even further. Read more
