Antica Mare: Not Just Another Italian Restaurant

Antica Mare - Patio

When we think of neighborhoods with good food, Shorecrest has typically been at the bottom of the list. Scratch that: it’s been nowhere on the list. But with recent additions like Pinch Kitchen and The Anderson in Shorecrest/El Portal/Mimo/Upper Eastside/whatever you want to call it, that whole area around the 79th Causeway is transforming into quite the foodie destination.

Antica Mare, with its delicious Italian offerings, should help bolster the neighborhood’s culinary identity even further. Read more

The Sarsaparilla Club: Flavorful Cart-to-Table Cuisine Comes to the Shelborne

Sarsaparilla Club

Having really enjoyed Morimoto at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand, we were bummed to see it shutter last September. Thankfully, its replacement has made that loss a very distant memory. Knowing that this was our first true Cantina La Veinte experience, Chef Gomez brought out an assortment of classics and favorites for the perfect first impression. Here’s a rundown of what we had (and what you should order).

When we first heard that Bulla Gastrobar’s sister restaurant was opening in Kendall, we were a little skeptical. It seemed strange to us that a quality Peruvian eatery would open in the land of chain restaurants and strip malls. But after visiting during opening week, we were sold on the location. Pisco y Nazca is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and a much-needed break from Outback Steakhouse, Blue Martini, Cadillac Ranch and other area chains. And oh yeah, it has great food.
