For a while now, we’ve been looking for good ramen in Miami. The ones we’ve come across have ranged from good to okay to “not for us.” It wasn’t until recently that we found one that stands out above the rest. If you’ve been searching for a bowl of heaven on earth – plus other Japanese delights — look no further than Buya Izakaya + Yakitori in Wynwood.
We can’t stress this enough: The oxtail ramen at Buya is a must. The braised oxtail, tonkotsu broth and black garlic oil make for a delicious flavor combo – one that will make you order bowl after bowl. Not a ramen fan? That’s fine because the ramen is just one item on an extensive menu of other tasty bites.
This izakaya concept emphasizes sharing, so order a few plates per person … or just order a ton for yourself. You won’t break the bank either way, as most items are priced in the single digits or low double digits. Before you know it, you’ll likely have ordered a significant chunk of the menu. We don’t blame you — selections like the giant tempura beech mushroom, wagyu tataki and chicken thighs are too good to pass up.
What we really appreciated is the timing. Dishes come out as they’re ready, and they’re ready fast. As a result, Buya is ideal for a quick nosh. That said, you don’t feel rushed at all, and the ultra-friendly staff helps add to the relaxed nature of the restaurant – everyone’s so chill. Beer and wine are plentiful, and the sake cocktails with whimsical names like “Show Me Wax On, Wax Off” round out the experience perfectly.
Overall, Buya is a solid addition to the bustling Wynwood food scene. Whether you’re looking for a full-on meal or just a few light bites with friends, the menu at Buya excels in quality and value. Just make sure to get that ramen.
