Common Threads, a not-for-profit organization, which provides hands-on cooking and nutrition education to children, families and teachers in underserved communities, is teaming up with celebrity chefs to host its Second Annual Cooking for Life Sunday Brunch on Sunday, September 25 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Three months in, and we have a serious contender for Best Meal of 2016. Our recent trip to Seagrape at the Thompson Miami Beach was a memorable one from start to finish. The restaurant’s Florida- and Caribbean-inspired (Floribbian?) fare delighted our taste buds throughout the evening and ensured a return visit from us very soon. Here’s why.
If you haven’t heard the name Jessica Hernandez in South Florida’s food scene or seen her decadent work on the Instagram account @Jessi_Bakes, it’s just a matter of time. The Crumb on Parchment pastry chef has made quite the name for herself since first falling in love with baking at a young age. Her demeanor is just as sweet as her treats, which we discovered when we met a few weeks ago to talk about all things baking.
Common Threads, a national non-profit organization fighting childhood obesity by teaching kids healthy cooking skills, is taking over Miami with its inaugural Cooking for Life Festival on April 17-19. The weekend-long fest, which features acclaimed chefs from the 305 and abroad, will provide many fun-filled opportunities to celebrate healthy cooking.
