Izakaya Transformation at Hiyakawa

Hiyakawa, Miami’s acclaimed Michelin-recommended Japanese fine dining destination, is flipping the script this summer. From July 19th through August 17th, the celebrated Wynwood restaurant will temporarily transform into a lively Izakaya, turning down the lights, turning up the music, and serving up a fresh, fun, and insanely delicious new menu of small plates crafted by Master Sushi Chef Masa of Michelin-starred Ogawa and Chef de Cuisine Jamie Liu.

This exclusive, month-long concept-within-a-concept will feature an all-new menu of high-quality ingredients—imported directly from Tokyo’s Toyosu Fish Market and seasonal Japanese produce from Ibaraki Prefecture. An abridged sushi menu with some new twists from Chef Masa will complete the a la carte menu. For dessert, Chef Liu will highlight the best seasonal summer fruits sourced from our partners at Natoora, working with farms across the country to deliver peak freshness and flavor.

Guests will enjoy small plates like Pork Gyoza ($18), Gobo Stick ($14), Chicken Katsu Curry ($26), Miso Cod ($22), and Tofu ($9).

Chefs Masa and Jamie are working to create an authentic Japanese Izakaya experience—think of a cozy, tucked-away spot in Tokyo—designed for sharing and discovery. The interior will be dimmed and lively, reflecting the spirited atmosphere of traditional Japanese pubs, while maintaining Hiyakawa’s signature high standards and artistry.

Hiyakawa continues to lead Miami’s Japanese culinary scene, blending tradition with contemporary flair and seasonality. This Izakaya pop-up offers a perfect opportunity to experience the restaurant in a whole new vibe—and at a more approachable price point—until the regular menu returns on August 20th.

A special beverage program will feature a wide range of approachable yet bold sake as well as fun and zesty summer wines that will spark the Izakaya vibes.

Reservations are available during Hiyakawa’s regular hours and can be booked on Resy. Space is limited to 50 diners per night.
