MFP’s Picks of the Month – November 2018

picks-of-the-month

If you haven’t noticed, we go out to eat a lot. It’s sometimes hard to keep track of the best spots we’ve visited each month (and week and day). That’s why we’ve decided to put together a monthly list of our top picks. You can expect restaurants both young and old on this list — we’re always discovering new spots on our foodie adventures.

Here are our top picks for November 2018.

Sweet Dogs 305

Whenever we crave a hot dog or some Mac and cheese, there’s only one place we visit: Sweet Dogs 305. It’s our go-to spot for multiple reasons: it’s good, it’s cheap and it’s owned by one of the nicest guys in the biz (Victor Ruiz). It’s been a while since our last visit — we’re “shreddin’ for the wedding” — but we decided to treat ourselves last month after a short hiatus.

It’s still awesome. From the Dolphin Dog with papitas and a ton of cheese to the glorious Oreo milk shake, Sweet Dogs’ selections don’t disappoint. And for the price, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better bang for your buck.

Burlock Coast

We travel for high-quality food, and we never mind the trek to Burlock Coast. Why? Because we know we’re going to have a great time. At this Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale restaurant, Chef Paula DaSilva is cooking up a wide variety of tasty menu items that lean on the seafood side of things.

Start with something light like a scrumptious shrimp cocktail and then go big with the tempura grouper sandwich — the best sandwich we’ve had in a looooong time. Don’t skimp on dessert either: The croissant bread pudding with white chocolate and pineapple compote seems overwhelming, but it’s surprisingly not too sweet (making it all the more dangerous).
