Over the past year, we’ve interviewed many members of the hospitality industry, and one constant among the interviewees has been a profound love for their pets. We thought it would be great to share this love with our readers. That’s why we launched an ongoing feature called “Wag Wednesday” to showcase industry peeps and their pets.
This week, we’re featuring John Gallo and Rene Reyes, Chefs and Partners of PINCH Kitchen, and their dogs, Lola and Tiger.

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / French Bulldog
How did you come to own your dog? What drew you to him?
Rene: I’ve always loved Jack Russells and was waiting to find the right one. When I saw Lola, I fell in love with her.
John: I always wanted a dog, and after some research finally came across Tiger.
How would you describe your dog’s personality?
R: Very rambunctious, happy, loving, and caring dog.
J: Very low-key, loving and caring dog.
How has owning a pet made your life richer?
R & J: They are a great companion and loving member of our family.
It’s said that dogs reflect their owners and vice versa. How does this apply to you and yours?
R: I have a happy and carefree personality, and so does my dog.
J: I have a carefree, relaxed personality and so does my dog.
Tell us a funny story about you and your dog.
R: Lola was my companion on a very long road trip up to New York, and at a stop, I stayed at a hotel where I couldn’t have pets; I snuck her into the hotel room. I left to go eat and within 5 minutes of leaving, I received a phone call from the hotel staff telling me I had to vacate the premises due to Lola barking and screaming. I ended up sleeping in the truck that night.
J: My dad scolded Tiger one day and later on that night, Tiger peed all over my dad’s pillow — I guess in revenge.
Are you involved in any pet organizations or philanthropies?
R & J: No, not at the moment.
