There’s officially a new taco spot in town: The Taco Stand. This California-based eatery has brought its Baja-inspired fare to Wynwood, where guests can enjoy tacos, burritos, quesadillas and other appetizing bites to satisfy their Mexican food cravings.
Our meal started with the obligatory Chips and Guacamole, which had us noshing like no tomorrow. The guac was particularly chunky, which made it easier (and faster) to stuff our faces with the deliciousness. No matter what you order, you want to get some chips.
As you’ve probably guessed, tacos are the star of the show here and they absolutely deserve all that recognition. Our two selections — Al Pastor (rotisserie pro) and Baja (battered fish) — instantly hit us with big flavors that almost compelled us to order another round. Alas, we had to save room for the massive Pollo Asado Burrito. Our recommendation is to stick to tacos if you’re in the “low-to-medium hunger” range and opt for the burrito if you’re “really really hungry.”
Carne Asada Fries are another tasty staple of the menu, and they are enormous. Seriously, The Taco Stand is all about giant portions and this is no exception. The mountain of fried potatoes, flame-grilled angus steak, guac, sour cream and cheese is best shared among two or more people. They aren’t intended for one person (unless that person is The Rock or Andre the Giant).
This is just a small taste of The Taco Stand’s menu. Fun fact: There’s also a hidden omakase restaurant in the back called … Hiden. Suffice it to say, you’ll find plenty of delightful dining options at either place. We sure did.
