MFP’s Picks of the Month – February 2019

If you haven’t noticed, we go out to eat a lot. It’s sometimes hard to keep track of the best spots we’ve visited each month (and week and day). That’s why we’ve decided to put together a monthly list of our top picks. You can expect restaurants both young and old on this list — we’re always discovering new spots on our foodie adventures.

Here are our top picks for February 2019.

Stanzione 87 / Ash! By Stanzione

Franco and Ashley Stanzione make some of our favorite pizzas in town. Stanzione 87, the couple’s long-standing pizzeria in Brickell, is worth checking out for the lunch deal alone. Enjoy one of several signature pies plus a soft drink for just $10; we’re suckers for the mais pizza with corn, cream, proscuitto, mozzarella and other goodies. The deal is a diet’s worst nightmare, and your stomach’s best friend, as we’ve already taken advantage of it many times.

The Stanziones recently opened a second concept further north at the new Citadel food hall. Over there, Ash! by Stanzione continues the duo’s tradition of high-quality food at affordable prices. Unlike its older brother, Ash! is a lot more whimsical; selections have fun names like the Nancy Sinatra, Geronimo and  Evel Knievel. Come on a Sunday to enjoy the spot’s Sunday Sauce pizza with delicious bolognese — it’s a treat.

Don’t let the name fool you: Tacology serves up a lot more than tacos — especially during their new Sunday brunch service. Items like pozole rojo, lobster chilaquiles and aguachile de camaron verde are just a few of the highlights on the menu. Everything is meant to be shared, so the more people you bring, the more items you can enjoy.

Save room for dessert, as the paletas are not to be missed. They taste as good as they look — and they look great. Be on the lookout for a full brunch review soon.
