Winker’s Diner, Sushi Fly Chicken and Toothfairy by David Grutman’s Groot Hospitality are set to open in March 2021 in the historic Firestone garage on Miami Beach’s Alton Road.
The restored original Firestone sign stands tall atop the corner building on 16th and Alton and now serves as a beacon for David Grutman’s vision, which was brought to life by award winning New York-based design firm, ICRAVE. Each venue will feature instagrammable design features, cuisine, cocktails and ambiance that have become part of Groot Hospitality’s signature 360-degree experience.
Winker’s Diner is a stylish diner featuring all-day breakfast, soups, oversized sandwiches and salads and all-American comfort food. Winker’s will also cater to vintage diner enthusiasts with a menu of classic sodas, milkshakes and floats.
Sushi Fly Chicken — SFC for short — features a menu and atmosphere inspired by distinct elements of diverse Asian cultures. SFC’s menu will include a selection of signature negiri, maki and a nightly omakase experience, signature Korean fried chicken, a robata menu and original “Fly Dishes” such as handmade dumplings, fried rice, ramen and more.
Toothfairy is the ultimate place to satisfy even the most discerning sweet tooth, offering a vast selection of soft serve ice cream, decadent cakes, cookies and more. Toothfairy is a bright and colorful setting that encourages guests to share photos and make memories. The design is bold yet simple, making everyone who enters feel like a kid in a candy store. The space features marble slabs that meet the gradient floor, ceiling and walls that act more like a piece of pop-art serving as the backdrop for the bar and customers.
1-800-Lucky Gets 2 New Tenants
James Beard nominee Chef Nicole Ponseca has brought her wildly popular, NYC restaurant Jeepney and a new concept, Tita Baby’s to Miami. Both concepts are NOW OPEN inside Wynwood’s Asian Food Hall, 1-800-Lucky.
After debuting two groundbreaking concepts in New York, the renowned restaurateur and author is ready to expand her Filipino empire.The Jeepney Miami Pop-up focuses on a curated menu featuring Filipino BBQ skewers ($9 chicken or pork), sizzling Sisig ($14), and Pancit noodles ($13).
Along with Jeepney BBQ, Ponseca will introduce a selection of Philippine pastries like Bibingka ($6), a traditional rice cake served in a cast iron skillet lined with banana leaves, Ensaymada ($3) a soft bread pastry lathered with a calamansi-sugar glaze and Halo Halo ($11), the famous shaved ice loved by Anthony Bourdain and written about extensively for its festive colors and use of ube ice cream.
Live Entertainment at Kuba Cabana
Kuba Cabana at CityPlace Doral is hosting “Kubaret,” a classic night out. The series of exhilarating evenings will take place on the last Thursday of every month, starting Jan. 28, and feature a Las Vegas Style Cabaret show with burlesque performers, live music including acclaimed singers, a 7-piece band and DJ, a happy hour with a premium open bar and a prix fixe menu. Each month will boast a different themed dinner show including:

Happy Hours at Mayami and Taqueria Hoja
Weekdays (and the weekend) just got more interesting with Mayami new happy hour! Tuesday – Sunday from 5pm – 7pm, head over to Wynwood’s newest Mexican cantina & bar for specially priced cocktails such as Paloma, Mezcal Mule, and a variation of Margaritas. Mayami’s happy hour menu also features a selection of tacos and small plates ranging from $4.50-$9, making this an irresistible way to end a long work day.
Taqueria Hoja, the newest taco spot located in the heart of downtown Miami, has just launched their new happy hour specials. Everyday from 4-6pm, the restaurant that specializes in traditional mexican cuisine becomes a place where guests can unwind and enjoy great deals such as $3 beer, $7 wine, $7 cocktails, 2 tacos for $6, and $7 burritos.
Carrot Express Comes to Dadeland
Carrot Express is now open in Downtown Dadeland. The Downtown Dadeland location is 1,800 square feet featuring indoor and outdoor seating with the capacity to seat 30 guests inside and 24 seats outside. Takeout and delivery will be available immediately after opening. The space will incorporate the similar relaxed atmosphere of Carrot Express featuring their branded colors of orange and green.
The nourishing hub features something for every kind of dietary restriction in addition to their vast and expansive menu including a wide range of salads, smoothies, bowls, wraps, fresh pressed juices and smoothies. Their newest additions also include the Lily’s Date Shake ($1 of each beverage goes to Gig’s Playhouse), Avocado Toast topped with tuna or salmon tartare, Healthy Burger Bowls and a Vegan Picadillo Bowl.
Australia Day at Bay 13 Brewery
Tuesday, January 26, is a huge day for Bay 13 Brewery: It’s Australia Day! The brewery will be celebrating all day and encouraging you to take the day off work and spend it with the Aussies! Here are the ticket packages for the celebration:

Veza Sur’s Abuela Pops Up at CityPlace Doral
Veza Sur’s infamous blow-up Abuela will be hanging out at CityPlace Doral all weekend long! From January 22 to January 24, stop by and snag a selfie and don’t miss the Veza Sur specials including $5 pints at Copper Blues and Tap 42 and $5 snifters at Suviche, Novecento and Kings.
New Menu Additions at Villa Azur
Villa Azur, Miami Beach’s popular French-Mediterranean dining and entertainment destination has debuted several savory new menu items perfect for Miami’s winter season. The restaurant has consistently offered patrons a unique experience that combines dining, entertainment, music and art all in one distinct space.
New to the menu are delicious appetizers including, the Prime Carpaccio ($24) served with a caper aïoli, fresh lemon vinaigrette, caper berries, arugula and shaved parmesan; Arancini Lobster ($18) fried risotto spears filled with roasted cauliflower and lobster, and topped with a truffle aïoli and reggiano; and the King Crab ($38) plated with a yuzu beurre blanc, toasted brioche, and herbs.
One entree new to the menu is the larger than life Tomahawk Steak ($250), a 42 oz. steak roasted to your liking and served with both bordelaise and béarnaise sauce, as well as a choice of two sides. Additional new entrees guests can indulge in, include the Whole Roasted Chicken ($60), prepared with an all natural, butter herb crust, rosemary garlic chicken jus and served with a choice of two sides; and a Whole Branzino ($70), prepared table-side with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette, lemon crown and roasted tomatoes.
Omakase Dinner Series at The Citadel
The Citadel and Secret Sauce are partnering up to bring the “In Chef We Trust” dinner series to Miami, a limited pop-up omakase experience featuring specialty menus created by nationally acclaimed chefs paired with craft cocktails by House of Suntory, the founding house of Japanese Whisky. The 10-seat dinner series will feature a different chef, with Chef Makoto Okuwa launching the pop-up on January 29th and 30th. The exclusive dining experience will take place at The Citadel, Little River’s destination for local artisanal foods, handcrafted cocktails, maker driven retail, and culturally immersive experiences.
Guests will also have the opportunity to select from two different packages when purchasing their tickets for the two-night only event, with three seatings available at 5:45PM, 7:45PM and 9:45PM. Tickets will be sold in pairs and will include a complimentary welcome drink plus the omakase dinner for $125 per person, or for the ultimate omakase experience, enjoy the complimentary welcome drink along with curated cocktail pairings by The Citadel featuring The House of Suntory for $165 per person.
