Mayami Launches Night Brunch

This weekend, Mayami Mexicantina is launching Night Brunch. Night Brunch will put a unique spin on lunch and dinner, offering guests delicious twists on brunch staples made with artisanal ingredients, an expansive list of handcrafted cocktails, and new favorite dishes. The night will also include spell-binding performances by aerialists and fire breathers.

The Night Brunch is offered every Sunday from 5:00pm – 12am.

Forte Opens in Coral Gables

Chef Adrianne Calvo, the young star chef best known for delivering Maximum Flavor culinary concepts around South Florida, announces the opening of her newest endeavor, Forte by Chef Adrianne located on Coral Gables’ iconic Miracle Mile. The restaurant will soft open on Friday, June 11th for dinner service only (closed Monday); and open for both lunch and dinner daily as of Friday, June 25.

Forte will offer guests Chef Adrianne’s interpretation of Italian cuisine. The concept, as well as the moniker, pays homage to Calvo’s mother, and her Sicilian lineage, by bearing her maiden name. Some of Calvo’s favorite “go-to” ingredients, including imported balsamic from Modena, parmesan, white truffles, and San Marzano tomatoes, hail from Italy and in their purest form will show up on the Forte menu.

Authentic and ingredient-forward are the principles of the earlier parts of the dining experience with a natural progression to incorporate Chef Adrianne’s signature Maximum Flavor-style as the dining experience evolves. Antipasti platters highlight cured meats and cheeses along with fresh honeycomb, marinated olives, Marcona almonds and grilled bread.

The Raw Bar menu features Crudo di Pesce ($18) drizzled with orange zest olive oil vinaigrette, lemon zest, Fresno chiles and savory garlic chips, and a Bakkafrost Salmon Carpaccio ($21) with thinly sliced Faroe Islands salmon topped with cucumber relish, orange zest olive oil, caper-dill aioli, and fresh arugula salad.

The Burrata Bar celebrates the three-ingredient cheese from Southern Italy and includes two preparations: On Tartufo ($22) prepared with braised cipollini onions, balsamic glaze, and garlic breadcrumbs; and Con Panna ($20) with pistachio-almond pesto and heirloom cherry tomatoes among other delicacies.

Mains are at the height of the Maximum Flavor experience with nine Handmade Pasta dishes like Bucatini Cacio e Pepe ($31), Tagliatelle Bolognese ($32) with Italian sausage and Pecorino cheese, and Tortellini ($31) with mortadella butter and cipollini broth.

Appropriately named But Wait There’s More, highlights composed proteins like a Wood-Oven Whole Roasted Branzino ($45) with cannellini bean ragu, and Veal Chop Florentine ($48) served with fried garlic butter and fingerling potatoes. A selection of wood-fired pizzas and salads are also available.

Desserts include a house made Gelato ($28) crafted with an authentic gelato machine imported from Italy; Italian favorites like Tiramisu ($16), Strawberry Cheesecake ($15), Cannoli Cake ($15); and every Chef Adrianne-restaurant dessert staple, the Dark Chocolate Nutella Croissant Bread Pudding ($16).

Wynwood Parlor Opens in Miami Beach

Just in time for summer and National Ice Cream Month in July, Wynwood Parlor, the popular minority-owned local dessert company specializing in hand-crafted ice cream sandwiches made from small batched cookies, ice cream and roll on toppings, is opening a new Miami Beach location on the ground floor of Southgate Towers on 9th Street and West Avenue this Saturday.

The new ice cream lounge hopes to be a neighborhood hangout for West Avenue residents with affordable dessert and drink offerings, and will open with an expanded menu featuring signature ice cream sandwiches (including the new cocktail-inspired collection), blends, shakes, acai parfaits, a variety of Italian soft serve ice cream flavors, desserts by the slice as well as several vegan (dairy-free) options and beverages including beer floats, self-serve craft beer and more.

What’s more, to celebrate that school’s out for summer, students in grades K-8 who earned straight As on their last report card will get a free ice cream sandwich with a copy of their latest report card.
