“In Santiago we trust.” That’s exactly what we were thinking after trying the new Mexican concept from Cantina La Veinte’s Executive Chef Santiago Gomez. Unlike Cantina, Tacology at Brickell City Centre is a more casual affair that emphasizes street food creations but also brings some upscale dishes along for the ride. Items are meant to be shared, but here’s the thing: The food is so good that you won’t want to.
Every other day, it seems like a new restaurant is opening in Miami. One day, it’s a sushi spot. Another day, it’s an Italian joint. The week after, it’s a Peruvian restaurant. It’s food that we’ve seen — and eaten — time and time again.
Not so at Big Easy Winebar & Grill, which was among the first tenants to open at Brickell City Centre. The restaurant, which specializes in South African-inspired fare, is a breath of fresh air in a food scene that’s sorely lacking this cuisine. If you’re looking to spice up your dinner plans — literally and figuratively — Big Easy has you covered.
If you haven’t noticed, we go out to eat a lot. It’s sometimes hard to keep track of the best spots we’ve visited each month (and week and day). That’s why we’ve decided to put together a monthly list of our top picks. You can expect restaurants both young and old on this list — we’re always discovering new spots on our foodie adventures.
Here are our top picks for February 2017.
Earlier this month, the heavily anticipated Pubbelly Sushi at Brickell City Centre opened its doors. Led by Executive Chef Jorge Mijangos, this outpost marks the Pubbelly Boys’ latest venture on the mainland after Downtown Miami’s PB Station and Pawn Broker.
Fans of the original PB Sushi location in Sunset Harbour will find many of their favorite rolls alongside new additions that are sure to become favorites as well. Here’s a closer look at the menu.
