Negroni Week at Bulla and Pisco y Nazca

This year, Negroni Week, known for raising money for multiple charitable causes, will be taking place from September 13th through the 19th at multiple bars and restaurants.

Both Bulla Gastrobar and Pisco y Nazca are proud to be participating in this year’s charitable event and be donating $1 from each Negroni sold to CORE, a national non-profit known as ‘Children Of Restaurant Employees’. This organization is in charge of providing financial relief to f&b operations employees with children when either or have a health crisis, injury, death, or natural disaster.

Some Negroni specials that will be available for guests to sip on at Bulla Gastrobar include the Spanish Negroni (prepped with Bombay dry gin, campari, Lustau sweet vermouth, and caramelized orange) and the Smoky Negroni (prepped with prepped with mezcal, campari, martini & rossi sweet vermouth and caramelized orange).

Additionally, some other Negroni specials one might also be able to sip on at Pisco y Nazca include the Smoky Negroni (prepped with mezcal, campari, martini & rossi sweet vermouth and caramelized orange) and the Bianco Negroni (prepped with Bombay dry gin, campari, cinzano bianco vermouth, and caramelized orange).

The Egg Spot Changes Its Name

A product of restaurateurs Igor and Fred Niznik of The Butcher Shop Beer Garden and Grill, The Egg Spot has been serving up classic breakfast favorites, cold-pressed juices and premium coffee since its opening in 2019. Beginning today, September 1st, the Downtown eatery is changing its name to Chicken and The Egg and expanding its menu to include a bevy of new lunch items.

New dishes include: Thai Thigh Sandwich – crispy chicken thigh, Thai chili lime sauce, Asian style slaw on a brioche bun, Dirty South Biscuit Sandwich – crispy chicken, bacon pepper jam, pimiento cheese in a buttermilk biscuit, and Jack Talk Thai Bowl – bell peppers, onions, chickpeas, tomato, mushroom, quinoa, almonds, green curry sauce with chicken or plant based protein, to name a few, along with burgers and more.

The 1,000 square-foot contemporary indoor/outdoor space is outfitted with wood floors, white subway tiles, a long wood counter and two-top as well as communal tables looking into the open kitchen. Formerly The Egg Spot, Chicken & The Egg is the third restaurant from father and son team Igor and Fred Niznik. Located at 228 SE 1st Street, Miami, FL. 33131, the eatery is open daily and will serve breakfast and lunch from 8am – 3pm.

3 New Concepts Open on South Beach

On September 3rd, Miami’s hospitality leader David Grutman and his prolific restaurant group Groot Hospitality will unveil three (3) new restaurants on Miami Beach’s Alton Road – Sushi Fly Chicken (SFC); Toothfairy Bakery; and Winker’s Diner. Grutman is best known for his celebrity-studded hotspots, including the recently opened Strawberry Moon at The Goodtime Hotel (a partnership between Grutman and music artist Pharrell), Swan, Papi Steak and Komodo.

Located next door to each other, each new restaurant boasts its own unique identity, concept and design.

At first glance, SFC appears solely as a takeout restaurant with its tiled, stark-white storefront fulfilling take-away and delivery orders. Yet there is a secret behind the counter. When guests enter through the swinging door, they’ll find themselves in a low-lit and ultra-sleek chamber, reminiscent of the exclusive, unlisted watering holes tucked around Tokyo’s Roppongi or Ginza neighborhoods.

Helmed by Executive Sushi Chef Tony Mai, SFC’s menu is influenced by a range of Asian cuisines. The menu features a Chinese-inspired group of dishes such as Kimchi Fried Rice and Peking Fuck Bao Dumplings to pan-continental plates spanning from Lobster Prawn Toast to Sesame Soba Noodles. SFC’s bar offers top-flight liquors and bespoke cocktails, as well as a selection of premium Japanese whiskeys.

Named after Grutman’s one-eyed pet cat, Winker’s Diner is a heartfelt wink-and-nod to a familial atmosphere and dining experience. The menu features diner favorites such as Fish n’ Chips, Sandwiches, Burgers and more.

Designed by the New York-based firm ICRAVE, Winker’s Diner features teal blue pullman leather booths, nostalgic bronzed-metal accents, and three-dimensional pastel walls that are layered with starburst panels and custom triangular sconces. The Art Deco-infused aesthetic is balanced by a modern-day Miami Beach gloss.

On the sweet side, Groot Hospitality has brought on Pastry Chef-Partner Dallas Wynne to helm the kitchen at Toothfairy, a brand-new soft serve ice cream parlor, bakery and confectionery – the first dedicated desserts-concept from Groot. Toothfairy welcomes guests into an ombré cloud of cotton-candy pink and snow-cone blue, a highly-transportive space meant for picture-perfect photo ops (also designed by ICRAVE).

At Toothfairy, Wynne (27) is producing all her creations in-house, with items like flaky danishes and croissants to cosmic brownie cookies “brookies” to vanilla funfetti cakes. Wynne was the former pastry chef at Jeremy Ford’s critically-acclaimed restaurant, Stubborn Seed.
