Soul Tavern: Miami Beach Gets a Meat-Free Gastropub

It’s been a long time coming, but Soul Tavern is finally open. The Miami Beach meat-free gastropub was set to open in late 2016, but permitting and other city headaches pushed the date back to this summer. Thankfully, diners no longer have to wait for their fix of flavorful vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Variety is the spice of life, and as you’ll quickly see, Soul Tavern’s menu has a lot of it.

When we first visited NaiYaRa, Chef Piyarat Potha Arreeratn aka Chef Bee had just opened this ode to Asian street fare in Sunset Harbour. A year has passed since then, and Chef Bee has introduced many new dinner items to the menu (and he has plenty more in the works).

Although the menu has changed, the experience hasn’t. These latest additions continue to deliver the value, flavor and satiety that diners have come to expect from the fare at this Miami Beach hotspot.

Barceloneta: Did We Just Become Best Friends?

When we visited Barceloneta for a media dine a few weeks back, we weren’t expecting much. The Sunset Harbour restaurant, which specializes in Spanish Mediterranean cuisine, has been a staple of the area since 2011, but we just never had any urge to stop by; our “just-okay” experience at their now-shuttered South Miami location probably had something to do with it.

But life is all about second chances, right? Well, we’re glad we went back. Little did we know that we would enjoy one of our favorite meals of 2016 here — and one that had us immediately asking, “Did we just become best friends?”
